In-office procedures

Because of their busy lives, women often struggle to make their own health a priority. Personal schedules are filled with jobs, family and friends while self care unintentionally drifts to the bottom of the list.

Ongoing reproductive health issues may take a back seat because of time and cost.

In response to the needs of women, the doctors of Novant Health Mintview OB/GYN are proud to announce the opening of an in-office surgical suite at the Randolph Road office. The groundbreaking treatment room - some two years in the making - will save patients time and money without forgoing the best medical care available.

The Mintview in-office surgical suite was conceived with those concerns in mind.

Minimally-invasive surgical procedures are typical covered by office co-pays, which average $25. That same treatment, when done as outpatient through a hospital, starts around $325 and may not be covered by insurance."We want to offer procedures like Novasure, Thermachoice and Essure to our patients in a more comfortable, cost-effective environment," says Dr. Alyse Kelly-Jones.

Mintview's new space includes a dedicated hysteroscope which allows doctors to more quickly address the medical needs of patients in a relaxed, comfortable setting with minimal pain.

Services offered in the suite include Essure permanent sterilization and Novasure and Thermachoice, procedures to help control and alleviate heavy menstrual bleeding.

The Essure® procedure offers women a permanent birth control solution without hormones, cutting or the risks of tubal ligation. It can be performed in the comfort of a physicians office under local anesthesia in about 10 minutes.

GYNECARE THERMACHOICE® is a soft, flexible balloon that a doctor inserts in the uterus (womb) to treat the endometrium, the lining of the uterus as an effective, nonhormonal treatment for heavy periods. It involves a minimally invasive, 8-minute procedure that can be performed in your doctor's office or in a hospital.
